The Challenge
Following a data breach, the client needed an effective way to engage staff with data protection principles, ensuring the learning felt relevant and meaningful rather than purely compliance-driven.
The course needed to go beyond rules and policies, helping learners understand the real-world consequences of data breaches—particularly from the customer’s perspective.
The Solution
I designed an interactive learning experience where learners explored a virtual office environment, engaging with activities linked to key data protection principles.

The Customer Journey section allowed learners to explore the real-life consequences of data breaches from the perspective of affected individuals, helping to build empathy and reinforce the importance of correct handling of data.
Design Considerations
The visual design was intentionally kept neutral at the mock-up stage, as branding guidelines had not yet been provided. The design was structured to allow seamless integration of fully accessible brand colours during development.
